Finally with our illustrious leader “Handles” away on anniversary duties, stand in captain “Razor” Ray, with a slight flick of the wrist managed to win a toss. The first of the season. Without hesitation “Razor” said we’ll bat, and bat we did, finishing the day all out for 210. To be honest this could of been alot more, with many of the Village batsman getting a start.
Again our openers paved the way with a strong start, “Cobra” Geraghty 24, and after a stint retired hurt, “Gus” carried his bat for 57no. Following the openers “Aravinda” with 37 (strained calf), “Henry” Lawson 25, “Big” Wil 21 (strained calf) Les “I forgot about the meeting with the minister” Ham 14.. Plenty of starts but only one going on with it. Jason will be back for the 2nd week, as we look to bowl out Runaway Bay for less than 210.
:: second grade ::
I’m not quite sure what happened in 2nd grade on the weekend, but John “I never get lost” Bourke 35, Adam “Not so” Little 31 put on a magnificent opening stand of 70.. Normally John & Adam bat in the second half of the order, but they stepped up after the regular openers got lost. Great effort gentlemen.. With Dave “Ducks” Wolton seemingly on the crest of a slump, and the rest of the middle order contributing 20, Luke “Houses” Donaldson 35no, Steve McConell 28, and our newest recruit Jon “New Guy” McTaggart 18 saved the day, and guided the team to a respectable 181…
Runaway Bay finished the day at 0/29… The boys have some work to do to take 10 wickets next week, but have bowled better sides out for less, so stay tuned.
