1st grade : Vs Loganholme @ Loganholme
LH – 6/306(dec)
2nd grade : Vs Loganholme @ Newstead Pk, Logan Village
LVCC – 142; LH 5/82

:: first grade ::

After toiling hard in the field all day, under a hot hot sun, the Village could only manage to take 6 Loganholme wickets, whilst they piled on 306 runs… In a day of very little highlights for the Village team, one outstanding effort shone through, that of Jimmy Geraghty finishing the day with 3/75 off 20..As always the backbone of the Village bowling attack Handles Stein finished with 2/123 off 26.. I want to know did Handles get to raise the ball above his head when he passed the century mark??? Clarkey got the only other wicket with 1/54 off 15..

With a wet day predicted for this Saturday, my thoughts are with the lads as they chase down these runs.

:: second grade ::

Once again, Muschy prepared an absolute belter of a track, for whats becoming the local grudge match against Loganholme. The weather was perfect and with a few injuries in the team it was a timely toss for Captain Smith to win, and wisely chose to have a bat.

After a cautious start Captain Smith (0) was caught at 2nd slip to what can only be termed a blinder.. Shortly after Shorty (4) was bowled by an inswinging yorker, which left JL and Wally to steadied the ship. And steady the ship they did, putting on a very handy 64 run 3rd wicket partnership. A lapse in concentration saw Wally (36) swinging at a wide ball which had him caught at gully, which left the Village at 3/80. JL (35) then forgot that his safe ground is behind the crease and not in front of it when he was amazingly run out by the bowler when he thought he was in his crease, a lesson that he will not forget quickly.

After a few quick wickets fell with Greg Duck Walton caught behind, for you guessed it a duck and Jason Potty Mouth Roberts was judged LBW, another duck, and Aaron Johnson caught, again another duck. Next in Pinch Hitter Michael Pimm strode to the wicket with one purpose in mind, to right this sinking ship, and get some respectability back in the score.. At 7/83 the Village had some work to do, and with the aide of the tailend (no disrespect) Michael guided the ball around the park with the aplomb of a seasoned first grader, and by the end of the innings Michael had amassed 50 of the best with the Village managing to score a very defendable 142. It must be said, the effort from Shane, Jarrod and Johnny Burke (bad ankle injury – probably gout) to hang around with The Pimm was fantastic and hopefully will prove a turning point for a great win.

Now with ball in hand, the Village were able to take 4 wickets in 5 balls with Wally taking 2 in a row. Robbo threw down the stumps for a great run-out, taking the vital wicket of Loganholme Captain Scotty Rice, which was followed up with Pimmy getting an LBW late in the day.

The match is evenly poised going into week 2 with Loganholme 5/82 and with wet weather predicted hopefully the boys can get some early wickets and bring home another win.
