Well we finished the day, and the 2007/08 season bowling Alberton out for 233, and finishing with the wooden spoon..
Resuming the day at 1/43 we put in one of the best sessions of the season to have Alberton teetering at 7/133, and a big chance at being bowled out for less than 160.. Once again we showed great ticker, and everyone put in a top effort… Again our fielding let us down, with 8 catches being dropped… We hold on to the catches, we have ourselves the match, so its more catching & fielding practice in 2008/09… Having said that, we effected two run outs, with a Clarke Kent special through the legs tunnel ball style number, and a great Darts Geraghty over the stumps return to make the Alberton runners look second rate.. Special mention must go to Philbert for a fantastic effort behind the stumps with 3 catches, and a big effort in keeping the rest of the team on their toes, and motivated..
Pick of the bowlers, Big Willy Style Davis (Qld Imparja Cup Rep.) with 3/70 off 30 overs.. Will was supported by Handles Stein taking 2/93 off 32 overs (Handles could of had alot more wickets had catches been taken).. Darts chimed in with 2 /17 off 9, and Clarke Kent, 1/46 off 14..
The Wooden Spoon, not something I nor the rest of the team are proud of… We started the season so well, with promise, with talent, and most of all enthusiasm… Somewhere along the way we mislaid that enthusiasm, we misused the talent, and I don’t know where the promise went… Having said that, the season finished the way it started, with players showing guts, and determination, and a desire to win… For mind I am keen to take the positives out of the back end of the season and build on them in the 2008/09 season…

Well all I can say at the moment, is sensational effort boys, to come up with a 2nd outright win on the trot…
The day didn’t start too promising, being bowled out for 98 is never a great start to a match.. Standout effort of the 98 run debacle was Wally Walton cracking a fine 57 to add a touch of respectability to an otherwise poor effort… Not to be too despondent about the batting effort, the bowlers more than made up for it bowling Alberton out for 94… Bourke & Wills was the main destroyer taking 5/27 off 12 overs, with great assistance from Travis Trevor Martin 3/29 off 5…
The second innings proved a much better effort with the team scoring 5/259(dec)… Again stepping up to the plate was Wally Walton with a bradmanesq style unbeaten 119.. Wally had the Alberton bowlers mesmerised spanking the ball to all parts of the ground… The word about town was that there wasn’t a ground big enough to keep Wal back… Nathan Growdo Growden chipped in with a season high 47, and 42no from John Taggers McTaggart ensured the final day would be an exciting one… With a target of 263 to bowl at, Bourke with those left arm in-dippers took 3/29 off 6, helping bowl Alberton out for 207, and a much deserved outright win..
Once again congratulations on the fantastic effort in the final two games…
