:: first grade ::
After winning the toss Razor Ray Smith, decided the best why to get the season off to a winning start was to bat first, and go on the offensive.. There were a few early cracks in the pitch, but on the whole the wicket was a belter. Whilst we showed plenty of promise we couldn’t get any partnerships going.
Scoring freely Henry Lawson raced to 24, then played at a ball to close to his body, giving second slip some catching practice. Lawso was ably support by opening bowler and 2nd drop Handles Stein with 25.. Next Gus Kennedy produced the innings of the day with 47 well timed runs… With the score still looking somewhat grim, Jason Potty Mouth Roberts strode to the wicket, joining Gus for a face saving partnership of 39 runs. Robo then put on another 26 runs with Jon McTaggett, ending up with a very patient 35.. Jon also showed great patience in racking up his highest (15) in first grade.. With the tail wagging, we scrapped our way to be all out for 161..
Runaway Bay finished the day on 1 for 30, with the Village in with a fantastic chance at first innings points.. Day two started, with the covers on and light drizzle.. Getting underway on time we quickly had the Bay on the ropes at 6 for 79, and looking to wrap up the tail, when a gentleman going by the name of Inzy strode to the wicket at turned the game on its ear.. Smashing the bowlers at will, with out much style mind you, he guided Runaway Bay past 161, eventually falling for 89 off 60 balls… Pick of the bowlers were Handles with 4 for 68 off 19, Ankles Clarke with 2 for 28 of 16. Robo, and Gus chimed in with a wicket each.
I think with some selfishness from the top order batsmen we can post a competitive total, and give a bowler a score to bowl at… Stay tuned..
:: 4th grade :: Round 1
It was a cracking day for cricket. We won the toss, and had no hesitation in deciding to bat… After 40 overs we amassed a strong 7 for 220, with captain Shane Conradi hitting a well constructed 70. Also in the runs were Paul Smart with 56, and David Kercheval with 25.
After chasing leather for 40 overs, Woodridge, could only manage 9 for 156.. The main destroyers were Wayne Robinson with three (3), captain courageous Scott Conradi, Joe Martinovic and Shaun Horn all with two (2) each.
:: 4th grade :: Round 2
The second game of the 4th grade season, saw Logan Village go into the game understrength.. The team tried hard but were brought back to earth by a crushing defeat at the hands of Bethania.. Batting first, we could only manage 144 runs from 35 overs. Main contributors in the runs department were Paul Smart with 33, Shane Conradi with 31, and Shaun Horn with 28..
Bethania cruised to victory, getting the runs for the loss of only 2 wickets with 12 overs to spare. Once again captain courageous Scott Conradi took both wickets of the wickets to fall.
