Twenty/20 Competition

2009/10 Rules & Conditions of Play

Hours of play
1. Morning games shall commence at 10.00 am. The first innings shall finish by 11.30 am. The second innings shall commence at 11.40 am (or 10 minutes after the completion of the first innings, whichever is the earlier). The second innings shall conclude once a result has been achieved or the required number of overs have been bowled.

2. Afternoon games shall commence at 1.30 pm. The first innings shall finish by 3.00pm. The second innings shall commence at 3.10pm (or 10 minutes after the completion of the first innings, whichever is the earlier) The second innings shall conclude once a result has been achieved or the required number of overs have been bowled.

3. Where there is only match at the venue on the day, the afternoon hours shall apply.

Bowling

1. Each innings shall last 20 overs.

2. These 20 overs shall be completed in 90 minutes. In the event that 20 overs are not bowled in the 90 minutes in the first innings (the over in progress shall be included as completed) the 20 overs are to be completed and the innings of the team batting second shall be limited to the number of overs completed at 90 minutes in the first innings.

3. No bowler may bowl more than 4 overs

4. Any delivery passing over head high of the batsman standing upright at the crease shall be called no‐ball

5. The bowler shall be permitted one short pitched ball per over passing over shoulder height of the batsman standing upright at the crease (but see 2d)

6. If the bowler bowls a front foot no‐ball, the next ball shall be a free hit. The umpire shall signal this by making a one‐handed circle above his head. For the free hit delivery, the captain cannot change the field setting and it will be the same as for
the previous delivery. The batsman can only be dismissed from a free hit if he is out due to Run Out, Handled the Ball, Hit the Ball Twice, or Obstructing the Field

Fielding Restrictions
 No more than five fielders can field on the leg side at any time

 No more than 2 fielders outside a 30 metre circle from the wicket for the first 3 overs.

 No more than 4 fielders outside a 30 metre circle from the wicket from overs 4 to 7

 Must have at least 4 fielders (not including the wicket keeper) inside the 30 metre circle from the wicket from overs 8 to 20.

Batting

 A new batsman must come to the crease within 90 seconds of the dismissal of the previous batsman

Bowl Out

1. If the game ends in a tie (ie scores level) the outcome shall be decided by a bowl out.

2. Five bowlers from each side shall bowl one delivery each at the wicket with no batsman at the crease.

3. Whichever team hits the wicket the most times shall be the winner.

4. If the result is still undecided, five different bowlers from each side shall repeat the above process.
