1st grade : Vs Helensvale @ Hession Park, Helensvale
HV – 137, 7/64(dec) -Win; LVCC – 88, 5/50

:: first grade ::

Helensvale rolled out a greentop wicket for week two.
We had an official who would rather watch the nags, then umpire.
We had a few decisions not go our way.
The game got quite heated, with the typical slanging match you can expect on the Gold Coast.

After putting in a disappointing batting display (albeit on a greentop) we were bowled out for 88, some 49 runs behind Helensvale’s first innings of 137.. With nothing to lose, we strode out on to Hession Oval, to show Helensvale the week they prepare for week two was nothing like the wicket for week one, and show them we did.. Jason Clarke returned season best figures with 5/36, ably supported by Handles Stein with 2/27.. At one stage Helensvale were 3/6, before they recovered to 7/64 (dec) setting us 113 from 15 overs (rr 8.03)

Wanting to give it a red hot run to salvage some pride, we set off the prove we had what it took to win this game… Lawson and Ninja Skittles Skeet got the Village off to the perfect start to be 0/21 after two overs… In the 3rd over Lawson was caught trying to whip one off his pads, and by the end of the over we were still on track at 1/30.. Handleswas the next to fall, followed by Skittles for a quick fire 16, and we were 3/35… Les Legga Ham steadied the boat with 12no, but the total of 113 proved out of reach with the light fading quickly, and we finished with 5/50.. A great effort to chase down the runs, but not quite enough..
